An upright piano can weigh 200kg or more, with almost all of it in the wrong place for carrying. The legs, pedals and castors take strain they weren’t designed for, and one wrong tilt can crack a soundboard or dump 200kg through a staircase banister. We use furniture blankets, straps and proper lifting technique, plus a crew sized to the weight, because “it’s just heavy furniture” is how pianos get destroyed.
